Looking for a unique, extremely rare heritage turkey ?
Consider the "Recessive Lilac" color variation.

"The original birds were obtained in 1936 by V. S. Asmundson from a color mutation that came from a bronze flock in California. The genotype is bb rr slsl, homozygous for bronze, red, and recessive slate. This is a pure, true breeding variety, meaning they will breed 100% true for recessive lilacs." - Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys

Hatchlings

Recessive Lilac Turkey Hatchlings (photo below) are $20 each, straight run (gender unknown), and must be kept with additional heat if ambient temperature is not warm enough. They cannot be exposed to rain, harsh temps, etc. Our poults are started on Sabine Valley's Gamebird Crumble. It is a non-medicated, 28% protein. Hatchlings are not sexed and sold as straight run only. Farm pickup only. You may also contact "Citizen Shipper" or "Pets Paws and Pals" or many other transporters for animal shipping quotes. We are not recommending any particular shipper and will do our best to accommodate a requested pickup time at the farm.

juvenile recessive lilac turkeys - jakes and jennys -

Juveniles (photo below) are $45 each male or female and gender is known. These turkeys will be about 3 months old minimum, fully feathered and past the brooder stage. They are fed a gamebird crumble and free range. We mix in some hen scratch and black oil sunflower seed into the high protein crumble. They still require a high protein gamebird feed to finish growing. They can fly well at this stage as they are not yet adult weight. They are not breeding age. If you confine the turkeys, offer them heads of cabbage or bok choy, etc. for fresh "green" food. Farm pickup only. You may also contact "Citizen Shipper" or "Pets Paws and Pals" or many other transporters for animal shipping quotes. We are not recommending any particular shipper and will do our best to accommodate a requested pickup time at the farm.

breeding age adults - toms and hens

Adults of breeding age are $85 each male or female. Males typically weigh 30 to 35 pounds and females 15 to 20. If you have a nice, large place that keeps them happy, they will raise at least two broods a year, or produce dozens of eggs you can sell and/or eat You can also take some eggs to incubate and leave some with the hen. Since our adult birds have free ranged on about six acres of sheep pasture, they may not take to confinement. You are better off if you raise them from poults if you intend to pen them. Farm pickup, no shipping. You may also contact "Citizen Shipper" or "Pets Paws and Pals" or many other transporters for animal shipping quotes. We are not recommending any particular shipper and will do our best to accommodate a requested pickup time at the farm.
